Mizmor helps you pray and learn the Psalms in Hebrew. We collect the minimum needed to run your account and the practice feature. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we collect
Account information — your email address and password when you create an account. Authentication is handled by our backend provider (Supabase). Passwords are stored by the provider in hashed form; we never see them in plain text.
Your voice recordings (for scoring) — when you tap Record, your reading is sent through our server to a third-party speech-to-text provider (OpenAI) that transcribes it, so the app can compare it to the verse and show you word-by-word accuracy. We do not store your recordings — the audio is processed to generate your feedback and is not kept on our servers or used for any other purpose. The transcription provider (OpenAI) handles the audio under its own privacy terms, does not use it to train its models, and may keep its own request logs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring.
Technical logs — like almost every online service, our backend provider (Supabase) automatically records basic technical details of each request the app makes: the time, your account ID if you are signed in, your IP address and the approximate location it implies (city and country), and your device or browser type. These logs help us keep Mizmor running and secure. They never contain your recording. In rare cases, when a recording cannot be understood, a log may include a short excerpt (about 80 characters) of the automatic transcription. The provider deletes these logs automatically after about 90 days.
Practice progress — which Psalms and verses you have prayed, your scores, and streak. This is stored on your device. If you are signed in, your entitlement (purchase status) is stored on our server, tied to your email.
Purchase status — when you buy Mizmor, the App Store or Google Play processes the payment. We never receive your card details. We receive only a confirmation that unlocks the content for your account.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or device advertising identifiers, and we do not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. (Our provider's technical logs include an approximate location derived from your IP address — see "Technical logs".)
How we use your information
To sign you in and keep you signed in.
To provide the pronunciation-scoring feature (voice).
To save your progress and unlock content you have purchased.
To provide support if you contact us.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work:
Supabase — authentication, entitlement storage, and the server functions that score your reading.
OpenAI — transcribes your recording so we can score it (voice feature only).
Apple App Store / Google Play — to process purchases and, if applicable, subscriptions.
We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Data retention & deletion
Your account and entitlement are kept while your account exists.
Progress stored on your device is removed if you delete the app or sign out.
Voice recordings are not retained on our servers — they are processed to generate your feedback and then discarded.
Technical request logs are kept by our backend provider for about 90 days and then deleted automatically.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing office@yairlevimusic.com. We will delete it within 30 days, except where we must keep purchase records for legal or accounting reasons.
Children
Mizmor is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We use reputable providers and industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, hashed passwords) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these, email office@yairlevimusic.com.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new date at the top of this page.
